Long-billed Thrasher
This species can be difficult to coax into the open, so I was thrilled when this individual ventured into the middle of the feeder array at Salineño. Standing behind the single row of chairs where I put my Tropical Birding clients, I dropped to my stomach and shot between their legs to obtain this low angle result. He was quite close, so I isolated this headshot rather than present a cramped, full-body view. I think the detail held up decently despite the heavier-than-ideal crop. I really needed the 1.4x teleconverter on the lens to better isolate the head. Arghhh - next time!
