Canvasback

This represents my favorite capture of this elegant species to date! He was very wary of me when he initially landed in the small pond, but he decided to swim over and investigate once the resident Mallards and coots did the same. The gold water is a reflection of dry, sun-drenched reeds far behind the subject. I particularly like the wispy blue streaks in the foreground; those were created when a Lesser Scaup swam by and disturbed the otherwise glassy water.
