Bufflehead (female)

I've spent a lot of time pursuing the male of this species over the last few years, so I was stoked to capture this confiding female as she patrolled Stowe Lake in Golden Gate Park. While I didn't use food to lure her, I'm sure she was accustomed to handouts given how many people feed ducks at the location. If you look closely, you can see her tail floating on the water behind her.
