Henslow's Sparrow

This is my first capture of this elusive species. Hell, I'd only seen it twice before this encounter! Henslow's like to stay hidden in thick grass/brush, but this example was willing to perch in the open for short stretches. He favored this twig, and I was able to build trust as he cycled through, each time approaching a bit closer until he filled a decent portion of the frame. The perch was only about 18 inches high, so I had to get really low to get the super clean background. I'm not thrilled about the tail coming out of the focal plane and I wanted the bird to face away from the perch, but I love the view of the reddish streaks on the back. But a good first effort at this challenging subject!
