Green-tailed Towhee
I used playback to get this bird onto the desired perch, but he would not give me a more engaging look no matter what additional noise I made - pishing, squeaking, whistling - during his 15 second stay. I've never had a bird so responsive to tape who refused to visually acknowledge my presence after the fact. The late-afternoon sun was heavily filtered by high-elevation clouds, and that produced the perfectly uniform background without contrast or shadows. This shot looks like it was created in a studio, but it's a completely-natural, in-field capture.
