This was one of the final frames I captured on a recent outing to my favorite local shorebird spot. There was less action than usual, and the sharp frames I did manage from a limited number of opportunities were plagued by distracting shadows - until this guy went by. With the late-afternoon light coming in nearly horizontal, I finally obtained the fully illuminated result I wanted. This species must be shot in-flight to be appreciate the high-contrast wings!
