American Oystercatcher - fledgling
This curious youngster allowed closer inspection than either of his attending parents, so I decided to grab a super close headshot of him as he investigated me. Fledglings can be identified by their dark eyes and black-tipped bills. Their eyes will turn yellow and the beaky fully orange as they age. Dropping to f/8 (versus my usual f/5.6) allowed me to maintain depth-of-focus across the subject.
