Burrowing Owl

This frame is a 'cheap' shot from the suburban population in Cape Coral, Florida. The birds occupy earthen burrows in vacant lots and public parks throughout the residential neighborhood, and this habituated youngster allowed me to walk right up to him without any sign of agitation (vocalizations, head-bobbing etc). I just settled on the ground and hung out with him for fifteen minutes. This bird is completely wild, but it didn't feel like proper nature photography with cars and people passing by on the street twenty feet away! I was super close, so I closed down to f/11 to get the entire bird in focus. I really like how that narrow aperture rendered the foliage around the legs.
