Roseate Spoonbill
This is a shot I've wanted for a long time! I think this bill is one of the coolest in the avian world, so I was stoked to highlight the spatulate feature in this close-up. There's no funny business going on with the background (i.e. swapping); the illuminated bird was standing in shaded water, so it was easy to bend the curves ad highlight the contrast between the bird and the surroundings. This bird is an immature and still has downy feathers on its head an neck. It will eventually go bald and develop a magenta pink patch on the shoulder.
