Forster's Tern

This represents my first keeper tern frame from the summer nesting season! I visited this location on two consecutive evenings without capturing a single decent frame but was motivated to for a third try despite those struggles. The terns gave me a few decent opportunities on that third trip, and I was able to freeze this beauty after a successful dive. I love the tail streamers and dangling feet, and the direct eye contact and fully extended wings are everything I look for in an action shot. My only complaint is that we can't see the fish's face, but that's getting really picky. I suspect this shot will end up in my gallery of 2020 favorites when this covid-plague year is done!
