I've not had many opportunities to capture this open-country species, so I was happy to intersect this cooperative male on this rainy morning. The foliage is a bit overpowering, but the flat light minimized shadows on the perch and made the frame a keeper. The back side of this bird is so much prettier than front, so I'm thrilled with this view, especially with the right wing slightly open. I like how we can see the outermost primaries through the illuminated leaf.
