Yellow-bellied Marmot
For those unfamiliar with this plump beast, you should think of it as an alpine groundhog/woodchuck, the adorable critters occupying rocky outcroppings above tree line across the American West. This representative was sunning himself as I returned from a morning hike and was kind enough to pose for a few pictures before lumbering off the rock, presumably towards his favorite food source. The tufts on his hindquarters result from the wind fluffing his think fur.
