Bufflehead

My first keeper frame of 2021! Female waterfowl don't get as much attention as their colorful male mates, but I was stoked to get this lady in perfect, late=afternoon light. The super-smooth water isolates her nicely, and I was careful to underexpose her body to keep the feather detail in the characteristic white ear patch. My best shot of a female Bufflehead to date!
