Red-necked Phalarope (breeding female)

I never thought I'd be this close to this species, but I was glad I'd packed my 25mm extension tube on this day! Originally content to stay 20 feet from me, the group of 8 phalaropes eventually disregarded my presence and swam to within 6 feet of my shoreline vantage. The extension tube allowed my lens to focus closer than it would have otherwise, and I was able to capture a series of full frame images from which I extracted this close=up headshot.
