Long-billed Curlew

I've wanted to feature this bird's incredible beak for years, but I wasn't able to creep close enough to capture a high-quality headshot until I floated by this individual in my inflatable kayak. There was significant wind on this morning, and the resulting waves bounced my boat and made it really difficult to get the focus point squarely on the subject's head. Framing the beak was also a challenge, so I was really happy when I saw this result. The background is wet sand well behind the bird (which was oddly perched on a rock and behaving like an oystercatcher).
