Canvasback

Those who know my style know I can't get enough of headshots, particularly of species we don't get to see super close very often, so I couldn't believe my luck when this curious Canvasback paddled by me in an urban park. A concrete barrier around the pond prevented me from achieving a super-low shooting angle - my lens was about 12 inches off the water versus my usual 2 - but the slight elevation helped generate what I think is a really mesmerizing background. If I had shot from lower, I would have lost the beautiful texture on the water.
