Pigeon Guillemot

All of my previous shots of this species were 'on-water', so I was hella stoked to capture this more terrestrial frame to reveal the trademark red feet! The birds often sit on the man-made breakwaters in the harbor, but it's virtually impossible to achieve a clean background on those rocky heaps. This boulder was fortunately removed from those structures, and my inflatable kayak allowed me to maneuver into an idea shooting position. The sun was a bit higher than I'd like, but there was still enough color saturation to make the shot a keeper. My shutter was set super fast since I was trying to flight shots just before I spotted this guy. Worked out fine though.....
