This is NOT a domestic rooster; It is a Red Junglefowl, the wild precursor to that familiar domestic. This skittish male visited a forest feeding station outside Kaeng Krachan National Park, and I was lucky to get a touch of sunlight on him as he patrolled the perimeter of the the cleared area in front of the blind. Stopping the action was impossible under such low-light conditions (1/160 at f/4 and ISO 3200), so I could only shoot when he stood perfectly still, which wasn't very often given the amount of scattered seed. Birds with long tails always present composition challenges as the focus point must be continually moved to keep it on the head, a very difficult task from a distance and as the bird forages.
