Capped Wheatear
I'm not sure why I fixated on this bird ahead of my visit to De Hoop Nature Reserve, but I made it my primary photographic target on this morning. I found the species common in the reserve's open areas, but all representatives were super wary of approach - until I ran into this cooperative individual. It allowed very close inspection and sat still while I dropped my f/stop from 5.6 to 8 to keep more of the thorny perch in focus. It's worth noting that this was the reddest example of the dozens I observed on this outing.
