Lilac-breasted Roller
I saw dozens of these in Kruger National Park, but this individual presented the lone photographic opportunity I had at the species. Rules stipulate that visitors must remain in their cars while exploring park roads because of animal dangers (leopards, elephants, rhinos, etc) so it took a slow, vehicular approach to make this shot happen. With my wife driving -- and I shooting out the passenger window -- we crept into range of this eye-level stunner. The twiggy perch isn't very interesting, but I was stoked to have such a close view of this amazing bird.
