White-fronted Plover
I didn't have many cracks at shorebirds on this trip; hippos and crocs made it difficult to crawl around in wetlands and the palearctic migrants weren't present during these winter months. Enter the White-fronted Plover, a widespread, non-migratory resident which I approached on this predator-free beachfront. A distant breaking wave supplied the white glow in the background, and I'm really happy with the specular highlights below the subject, those resulting from out-of-focus bubbles at water's edge.
