Sword-billed Hummingbird
This incredible bird, the only species possessing a beak longer than its body, inhabits high Andean elevations from Venezuela to Bolivia. This shot was captured at a feeder array at 10,000 feet in Colombia's Central Andes. It is the same bird as shown in the adjacent headshot and high key image. The perch is a bit thicker than would be ideal, but I thought the attentive pose and view of the beak were enough to carry the shot.
