American Oystercatcher
I'd just finished photographing a group of Magellanic Oystercatchers when this bird went streaking passed my position. I reflexively raised my lens, squared the target, and pressed the shutter thinking I was about to score a sweet Magellanic flight shot. Only after I returned home and looked at the file on the computer did I realize I'd captured a the more-widespread American! A bit of let-down as I have lots of shots of this species from the Eastern US, but I was happy with the result regardless.
