King Penguins

Visiting this colony of 100+ King Penguins was one of the coolest birding experiences of my life. It was like I'd been transported to the end of the Earth! As for this photo, the birds were 40 yards from the designated viewing blind, the midday light sucked, the wind was blowing at 40MPH, and there was loads of sea spray between me and the birds, so I was happy to get anything serviceable. I would not have kept this frame were it of any other species, but -- hey -- it's three King Penguins!
