Crested Caracara

This New World raptor ranges into the US at multiple points along the southern border, but I had to venture to Southern Chile to capture my first keeper frame of it. This individual was perched on a rocky outcropping just off the main park road, and it tolerated me as I crept closer over the ensuing ten minutes. I hand't been close enough to fully appreciate the beautiful chest banding prior to this encounter.
